Juniors are a huge part of club life at Essendon

Junior Academy

We understand the importance of encouraging young people to participate in the wonderful game of golf, that's why Juniors are a huge part of club life at Essendon.

Come and join the popular Essendon Junior Academy. Whether you’re brand new to golf or you’ve had some previous experience, our Junior Academy at Essendon provides the perfect platform for your child to develop.

Our structured four tiered pathway allows young golfers of any level to participate, play and progress through our program, which is designed to encourage all participants to become course competent.

Our Academy Program offers the most comprehensive golfing experience by providing first class coaching and multiple playing opportunities whilst ensuring that we create a fun, engaging and positive learning environment for everyone!

Once each junior has reached the playing requirements to graduate through the program, they become eligible for a full Junior Membership. At this stage they will be able to take advantage numerous playing and competitive opportunities, representing the club in team matches, being a part of the Junior Squad and really enjoying the game to its fullest.

The Graduate Squad

Once a player has completed the Gold Academy they are invited to join the Graduate Squad. This is an entirely course-based programme consisting of 5 Order of Merit events per term, 15 in total. Events are 9-hole competitive rounds with a mixture of team and individual formats with scores going towards an annual Order of Merit. Each term is supplemented with various clinics and camps to encourage the players to continue their development.

The main golf course is a big step up and can often seem daunting. To help with this every new players starts from our Level 1 tees which are roughly 50% of the full hole. Once they’re reached a certain handicap they begin their progression back to the main competitive tees. This progressive pathway allows players to all compete in the same competition, whilst playing the course at a length suitable for their age and ability.

Once they have reached a 36 handicap from the main red tees, they will be invited to join our main Hawks section where they can begin competing against other clubs across the county.
