Meet Every Requirement

Venue Questions

Will our Wedding be the only one on the day?

YES! You are guaranteed to be the only wedding taking place with us at Essendon. The Clubhouse will remain open for golfers and public on the day but you will have a separate entrance, restrooms and bar throughout the whole day and evening to ensure complete privacy for you and your guests.

Do you allow confetti to be thrown? 

We do allow confetti to be thrown outside but must be biodegradable.

Are Candles permitted?

Candles are permitted, They must be contained within a suitable candle holder twice the size of the candle to ensure no open flames. 

Do you have chair covers that we can use? Can we hire Chivari chairs?

We can quote for chair covers and sashes, we use a company who has designed linen covers to fit both sizes of Essendon chairs and we are happy to arrange these for you. Please note that if you are having your ceremony with us we use different chairs in the Upper Barn to what is used for your wedding breakfast in the Lower Barn.

We can hire you Chivari chairs, and will place our lower barn chairs into storage if you chose to hire.

Is Car parking available to my guests?

Yes, your guests are welcome to park in our main car park and leave cars overnight to collect the following morning (Before 12noon) if they are staying nearby.

Do you allow fireworks display?

Yes. They must be booked through our approved and certified firework company and must take place before 10pm.

Who will be looking after us on the day?

You will have a dedicated team looking after you from start to finish. Two function managers will be responsible for the delivery on the day, one manager to look after your morning set-up and arrival and the second to see your party through to the end. Your assigned a wedding planner upon booking and they will take you through all the planning process and be on site on the wedding day for your formal duties including ceremony (if on site) reception & wedding breakfast, speeches, cake cutting and 1st Dance.

Do we have to use your recommended suppliers?

We do not require you to use any of our recommended suppliers; however they all work closely with Essendon and know the venue well. If you are using a DJ/Band who has not worked with us before we simply ask to see a copy of their public liability insurance.

Do you have accommodation onsite?

Yes we do! We have a beautiful newly refurbished farmhouse cottage available to hire with 4 bedroom’s sleeping up to 9 guests. Our brochure provides all the information you need.

Room Questions

Is there a dressing room available for the Bride & Bridesmaids to prepare in the morning?

Yes. The Maple Suite is available to book for morning preparations and can then be used later on in your day also. The hire charge for this suite is £250.00 and our ladies / gents changing rooms can be used for shower facilities if required.

When can we have access to the Wedding Breakfast room to set up?

The Barn will be available on the day of your wedding from 7.30am. 

Will the evening reception be taking place in the same room? If so when can my evening entertainment set up?

Your Band/DJ can set up in the morning if you don’t mind their set being on show throughout the Wedding Breakfast. Alternatively we can leave a 45minute turnaround period after the meal to prepare for the evening event. They can use this time to set up if they wish.

Is there a quieter area for older guests to get away from the DJ/Band?

Yes. The Upper Barn can be set with smaller round tables and chairs should any guests wish to enjoy a quieter area on the night. You can also hire our Conservatory for additional space if you would like – the hire charge of this suite is £250.00

What are your maximum capacities?

We can accommodate up to 130 guests for your ceremony and sit down meal. We can then accommodate up to 250 for your evening reception.

We can accommodate more daytime guests if you chose to split the seating on 2 levels for the meal, this would allow up to 180 for the day.

How many guests are seated per table?

Our 6ft round tables can seat up to 12 people. We recommend between 8 – 10 guests per table. We do have smaller round tables also available should you have tables of 5 – 7 guests. 

Catering Questions

Do you allow outside caterers?

We do not allow outside catering at the property. Your Wedding Cake is an exception to this; however this cannot be used as your dessert.

Do you provide a set menu for all our guests?

Yes. You will need to select one starter, one main course and one dessert for all your guests. Additional courses can be added such as sorbet / cheese course etc… We can then cater for vegetarian or any other dietary requirements with alternative dishes if required.

We also offer a pre-order menu where you can select 2x starters 3x mains (inc a vegetarian option) and 2x desserts – this type of menu option involves you getting pre-orders from each of your guests prior to the wedding day and returning a spreadsheet to us with the details.

Do you offer a children’s menu?

Yes. We can offer a children’s menu at £20.00 per person or, for older children, we can provide a half portion of the adult meal for half the price.

Do we have to serve tea and coffee at the end of the meal?

You do not have to order tea and coffee for all of your guests however, we recommend that a buffet style tea and coffee service is offered in the Upper Barn in order to allow a short period of time to turn your room around for your evening reception.

Do you offer menu tastings?

Yes. You will be invited for your menu tasting prior to your final details meeting. You will be able to choose one starter, one main course and one dessert each to try. You are welcome to bring along family or friends to the tasting however, if they would like to try additional dishes they will be chargeable.

Do you include a Cake Stand & Knife if required?

We do offer a cake stand along with a knife if needed.

How many drinks shall we allocate for our drinks reception?

We require you to cater for a minimum of 2 drinks per person for your reception drinks – we find this is a good allocation for this period of time. You are welcome to cater for more than two drinks if you would prefer.

How many bottles of wine are allocated for during the meal?

We recommend half a bottle per person for your wedding meal.

Will water be served with our wedding breakfast?

We can provide complimentary bottles of still & sparkling tap water on each table replenished as and when necessary. 

What time does your license for the bar and music end?

Our license for your private bar and entertainment ends at midnight. There is the option to extend the license until 1am for an extra charge of £250.00

Can we bring our own drinks for the day?

Corkage is permitted and is charged at £25.00 per bottle for wine and £30.00 per bottle for Champagne.
